Evelin Montoya

Senior Director of CES and Community Engagement | The People Concern

“we need to be comfortable discussing systemic racism within the homelessness system and adjacent systems, such as criminal justice, housing, and child welfare. We need to have honest conversation of how these systems have contributed to people, especially people of color experiencing homelessness. We need to start reviewing the practices that have been around for several years that were created by white men and modify them to be align with our quest for racial equity and justice for all.”

Evelin immigrated from Guatemala at the age of four and was raised in Metro L.A. She earned her bachelor's degree in Social Work from Cal State LA and her Master's in Social Work from Azusa Pacific University.
