LaKanda brings over 21 years of experience in healthcare services and financing. In 2017, she transitioned to a career in homeless services and now holds the position of Senior Manager at Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System (H.O.P.I.C.S). In this role, LaKanda oversees a range of interim housing programs that address housing insecurities, helping individuals and families attain permanent housing.

Her personal experiences have fueled her mission to uplift and support her community, with a special focus on women affected by the justice system and racial injustices. LaKanda's career has evolved from her beginnings as a frontline case manager in the interim housing department to her current leadership role at H.O.P.I.C.S, highlighting her unwavering commitment to driving positive change.
