Tia Dickson

Associate Director of Single Adult Programs | HOPICS

“The only time I seemed to feel like my voice and opinion mattered was when there was social unrest, a racial divide, and people on edge. When I see the disparities among the recipients of services and the decision-makers, it is clear to me that a lot of change is needed. I must step up and speak on behalf of those who don’t have the voice.”

Tia Dickson currently serves as Associate Director of Single Adult Programs for HOPICS. With over 19 years’ experience in child welfare and human services, her passion to help those in need and be a voice for the voiceless has aided her desire to address the housing crisis here in Los Angeles one person at a time. Prior to her role at HOPICS, she was the Director of Housing Navigation at LA Family Housing. Before relocating in 2018, Tia worked for 10 years with Catholic Charities of Baltimore in their Family Services Division under the Treatment Foster Care Program as Community Outreach Specialist and in the Domestic Adoptions Program as the Pregnancy & Adoptions Counselor. Tia also served as Data/ Operations Coordinator of a day resource/drop-in center for homeless women and children in the Community Services Division. Following Catholic Charities, she was the Homeless Outreach Coordinator for Montgomery County Department of Health & Human Services Interagency Commission on Homelessness in Rockville, Maryland.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland and member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., she holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and M.S. in Human Services Administration from the University of Baltimore.
