Evonne Biggs

Program Manager, Homeless Services & Health Equity | Venice Family Clinic

“Racism and an unhealthy attachment to capitalism contribute to people of color’s experience with homelessness. The work of addressing generational trauma must be multifaceted, while also considering the environmental challenges of the person experiencing homelessness (as well as those at risk), simultaneously.”

Evonne Biggs currently serves as the Program Manager for Homeless Services and Health Equity at Venice Family Clinic. She is responsible for the development, implementation, and overall performance of the clinic’s homeless program. Evonne is a former employee of LA Family Housing where she held positions providing direct care to families experiencing homelessness, as well as a supervisorial role in the single adult interim housing and engagement service areas. She values serving as a catalyst for systemic change at the intersection of homelessness and healthcare, by both participating in and facilitating collaborative efforts with people who provide direct care, community partners, and representatives of local government.

Evonne’s educational background includes a Master of Public Health from California State University, Northridge, where her curiosity for identifying the root of health disparities among the most vulnerable began. She has facilitated motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care training sessions, as well as presented program development and implementation details geared towards delivering care to people experiencing homelessness, on a statewide platform in the healthcare sector.

Evonne grounds her work in a love ethic, which bell hooks describes as a transformative model to demonstrate - “care, commitment, trust, responsibility, respect, and knowledge.”
