“I am a Black woman who has been pregnant seven times, birthing five children, and have four children who are alive. My second son died at birth and I know firsthand how the medical system victimizes Black women.”

The EmpowerTHEM Collective supports Black birthing people by reducing disregard for pregnant people’s health concerns and holding medical facilities accountable to quality patient care.

TaVia Wooley-Iles is a Business owner, and Executive Director of the EmpowerThem Collective, but mostly she is proud of being a woman who deeply believes in empowering women. When she is not doing all things empowering and communications, she can be found loving on her family. She is a wife and a mom to five children. Her free time is spent homeschooling her three youngest children, movie nights with her husband, crafting, being creative, and running around town with her kids and their recreational activities.
