Wellbeing Series: Be-friending the Body with Dora Kamau

The beliefs, ideals, and expectations we hold about our bodies can hinder the relationship we have with ourselves and others. In this session, learn how to begin creating a more compassionate relationship with your body utilizing gentle breathing exercises, mindfulness, intentional group dialogue, and self-reflection.

Dora Kamau is a mindfulness meditation teacher at Headspace, a leading mindfulness and meditation app. She also holds a B.A in Psychology and B.Sc in Psychiatric Nursing. Her deepest intention is to create space in community for folks to explore their inner worlds with a sense of compassion and safety.

SJPLA’s Wellbeing Series is a free workshop every second Thursday of the month at 11 am. The workshops introduce a variety of healing modalities as part of our Racial Equity in Homelessness Initiative. These sessions promote personal rest, renewal, and connection creating space for discussion on how to sustain wellbeing practices.
