Tai Chi and Qi Gong
Hakim Tafari believes that the essence of mindfulness is not only something to be practiced for the self but for those seeking to walk (or run) a path of non-judgment, non-ego, and compassion for the greater good of all beings.
His learnings and practices in Eastern medicine have propelled his influence with people all over the world. As a social activist promoting wellbeing, movement, and natural medicines, Hakim’s experience of mindfulness and social awareness support his friends, family, and community at large.
In this session, Hakim will offer us an introduction to the practice of Qi Gong and Tai Chi showing how we can use the mindfulness movement practice within everyday life to relieve stress and support our mental awareness.
For over 20 years, Hakim has been practicing martial arts, specializing in and sharing the practice of Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong.
You will leave this session not only clear headed but also feel light and spaciousness within your body as we prepare for the end of the year and beyond.
Please note that this session will be a movement-based workshop.
SJPLA’s Wellbeing Series is a free workshop every second Thursday of the month at 11 am. The workshops introduce a variety of healing modalities to anyone working to end homelessness in Los Angeles, as part of our Racial Equity in Homelessness Initiative. These sessions promote personal rest, renewal, and connection creating space for discussion on how to sustain wellbeing practices.
