Senior Deputy Housing and Homelessness

Isela Gracian serves as Supervisor Mitchell’s Senior Deputy on Housing and Homelessness, leading the Supervisor’s housing, homelessness, and planning policy. She brings to the Second Supervisorial District over sixteen years of experience in grassroots community work. She served as the President of East LA Community Corporation, where she led policy campaigns, community wealth programs, and the development of affordable housing. Isela is recognized as a leader in community-driven development weaving together the intersections of housing, income generation, environmental justice, and culture.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell serves on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and represents two million residents of the Second District. Supervisor Mitchell’s policy development is intersectional with all policy areas anchoring in racial equity, justice, and poverty alleviation.  

JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Hilton Fellow will assist with policy and projects within Supervisor Mitchell’s Homelessness and Housing Policy portfolio. This includes data tracking and analysis of unhoused 2nd district residents, doing research for assessment and recommendations of policy proposals with a focus on preventing homelessness for top represented groups in SD2 unhoused residents, participating in community events, engaging with constituents, and collaborating with department staff and service providers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge and commitment of racial equity. Experience in project management of multiple projects with overlapping timelines and direct service delivery to unhoused individuals. Experience with data and research analysis. Direct experience with homelessness services program development preferred. Knowledge of 2nd district history, current demographics and issues preferred.
