“Racial equity and justice must be at the center of the conversation about ending and preventing homelessness in Los Angeles. There is an overrepresentation of Black people in Los Angeles’s homeless community and that is a continuation of the oppression this group experienced in the United States for the past 400+ years.”

Shanice serves as the Director of Every Woman Housed at the Downtown Women's Center. In this role, she supports multiple Time Limited Subsidy programs designed to meet the unique needs of women and Black women experiencing homelessness in the Skid Row community and across Los Angeles County.

Shanice's passion lies in the liberation of underserved communities. Through her current and previous roles, she has championed for women in the Skid Row community, helping them attain their personal definition of stability. She is deeply committed to highlighting the needs and voices of those she serves, and she strives to bring about meaningful change in the lives of underserved individuals.
