Wellbeing Series: Finding Your Ease in the Struggle

This session is an exploration of the pillars of health, starting with the very breath we take. Discover the profound impact of correct breathing on regulating the nervous system and explore the intricate relationship between eating habits and one's attitude towards life outcomes. Understand the rejuvenating power of sleep and its significance in daily wellbeing. Concluding with exercise, participants will be guided through a 5-10 minute movement set.

Dr. Rufus Fuller has over 20 years of health service experience. He has been a massage therapist since 2000 and a yoga instructor since 2013. In 2013 he began his in depth study of East Asian medicine. Following his graduate education at Emperor’s College, he opened SOTAS Integrative Medicine practice (SOTAS – Standing on The Ancestors’ Shoulders) in 2018. Since that time, he has offered over a thousand treatments for both acute and chronic conditions and weathered the storm through a global pandemic as a minority small business owner. Demonstrating service as the cornerstone of his professional legacy, he has co-facilitated a variety of community health clinics and organized educational outreach programs to advocate for health equity among underserved populations. Dr. Fuller earned his DAOM and MTOM from Emperor’s College. He completed his undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles.


SJPLA’s Wellbeing Series is a free workshop every second Thursday of the month at 11 am. The workshops introduce a variety of healing modalities as part of our Racial Equity in Homelessness Initiative. These sessions promote personal rest, renewal, and connection creating space for discussion on how to sustain wellbeing practices.
