Wellbeing Series: Pleasure Plants - Botanicals for Beauty and Self-Love

Throughout history, plants have held an honored place in self-care practices, and today, these ancestors can still teach us much about loving ourselves. In this workshop, explore African botanicals that have long been used for beautification, vitality building, and cultivating inner joy. Join Sade in a demonstration of how these plants can be crafted into natural products such as herbal oils and facial masks.

Sade Musa is a disability justice activist, herbalist, and acupuncturist-in-training. She founded ROOTS OF RESISTANCE, a project that seeks to reconnect people with their ancestral healing practices, disrupt colonial narratives invisibilizing Afro-diasporic contributions to medicine, and address health inequity thru the provision of accessible wellness education and services.

SJPLA’s Wellbeing Series is a free workshop every second Thursday of the month at 11 am. The workshops introduce a variety of healing modalities as part of our Racial Equity in Homelessness Initiative. These sessions promote personal rest, renewal, and connection creating space for discussion on how to sustain wellbeing practices.
