Meet the 2021-22 Accelerator Cohort
We’re excited to be launching our fourth cohort of the Systems Change Accelerator with ten powerful leaders tackling the root causes of Los Angeles’ most pressing social problems. This year’s cohort is creating a more just LA by:
Advancing housing and transportation justice
Ending child sexual abuse
Abolishing racist carceral systems
Reimagining mental health practices
Increasing civic engagement and leadership opportunities
Amplifying Indigenous youth leadership in movements for justice
Learn about the initiatives and meet the leaders who will be with us over the next nine months through the Accelerator program.
The cohort meets for the first time on October 20th for the launch of this year’s program. Over the next nine months, we’ll support these leaders to clarify their systems change strategy, explore liberatory team culture practices, hone their messaging, and expand their relationships and resources.
We invite you to learn more about and meet these leaders at our Open House on November 4th! You’ll also get to hear their stories at our signature Fast Pitch event on March 30, 2022 - save the date.
If you’re moved by the work of these leaders and want to channel your time, energy, and talent to supporting this cohort and our broader SJPLA community efforts to transform systems, consider joining us as a Partner.
Connect
Relationships power our work, and they are at the heart of systemic change. We hold virtual convenings throughout the year to create spaces for community-building with our SJPLA Partners and cohort members.
Learn
Learn from the leaders addressing the most pressing systems change needs in Los Angeles. They each have bold visions for a more liberated Los Angeles. Their daily work and lived experience of the issues they face lend a much-needed perspective into the ways we can create more justice. We can’t wait for you to hear more from them.
Contribute
Throughout the course of the Accelerator, Partners share skills, relationships, and resources to help grow the work of the cohort. Needs differ across organizations and issue areas, and we always need a diverse community of people with various gifts and experiences.
Our Partners support through coaching in executive leadership, messaging & communications, nonprofit fundraising and navigating philanthropy, strategy, issue-area expertise, and more, in addition to sharing their financial resources and social capital channeled through their partnership with us.
Wherever you are, whatever your experience, you have something to contribute to a more just and liberatory Los Angeles.
